Master arborist Richard Wood, founder of Trees Vermont, has announced his intention to retire from the tree-care industry later this spring.
Wood began his career in the landscape maintenance industry, starting with snow removal, in 1993. Within a short time, he expanded the business to lawn and landscape maintenance, including light tree care. After the Great Northeast Ice Storm of 1998, Wood shifted his focus to general tree work, and by 2000 he was working solely in tree-care operations.
Wood has been an avid supporter of and competitor in the international tree-climbing championship Legends of the Geezers, formerly known as Geezers in the Treezers. As a competitor, he won back-to-back titles in the throw line event and took first in the 2019 aerial rescue event.
Wood is a past member of the International Society of Arboriculture, the Florida and New England chapters of the ISA, and the Society of Commercial Arborists.
