Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets Join Red Wagon Plants for a day of learning about getting started in the garden! 

Gardening is a lifelong hobby, and can be full of both bounty and challenges, especially in the early years. Red Wagon Plants is creating a whole day of workshops and activities geared towards the newer gardener. Come with all your questions, hopes, and dreams, and leave inspired for this year's planting season!

Red Wagon Plants will also have cold hardy plant starts for sale, as well as seeds, soil, tools, pots, and more. The event is free. Workshops are $25 each. The full schedule is below!

Schedule:
10:00am-4:00pm: Ask Me Anything Roundtables (Free, drop in anytime!) 
10:00am-12:00pm: Plan your Garden and Create a Vision Board 
12:00pm-2:00pm: Focus on Soil, from Testing to Amending

Dairy Sustainability

Dairy Sustainability:
Climate, Soil, Water

Join UVM Extension, Champlain Valley Farmer Coalition, and Cornell CALS PRO-DAIRY for a free workshop on dairy sustainability on April 10th in Middlebury.

Workshop highlights include dairy and climate resilience, whole farm environmental assessments, managing enteric methane emissions, manure storage and treatment options, and managing for greater sustainability and resiliency in our dairy cropping systems. 

The workshop is 9:00am-3:30pm and is free. Registration is required.

Join the Northeast USDA Regional Food Business Center on March 25th at 11:30am for a webinar on the launch of new funding streams for producers and technical assistance providers.

Hear from two roundtable sessions as panelists discuss regional supply chain needs and how food & farming communities can most effectively and successfully navigate federal and state funding opportunities.

Reminder: Farm to School and Early Childhood Vision Grant

The Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets Vision Grant is designed to support innovative projects that engage youth in addressing contemporary problems through farm to school and early childhood activities. 

Schools, districts, early childhood educators, afterschool programs, and non-profits working in partnership with organizations in the VT Farm to School and Early Childhood Network are eligible to apply for grants of $5,000-$15,000.

Strong proposals will be scalable, replicable, prioritize youth leadership, and demonstrate a significant impact on Vermont youth. 

Application deadline: April 11th
