Vermont Business Magazine Barr Hill Gin, the most awarded gin in the United States and #1 selling gin in Vermont, announces that the bar at its Gin Lane Distillery is a semifinalist for the prestigious James Beard Award for Outstanding Bar, a recognition of excellence in the culinary world. Barr Hill is one of only two distilleries nominated for the esteemed award and the only distillery nominated that boasts national distribution.

Barr Hill Gin’s Distillery also becomes the first Vermont bar to receive a nomination in the Outstanding Bar category, underscoring the state's growing prominence in the culinary and spirits industries.

“We are deeply honored by this recognition by the  James Beard Foundation," said Patrick Amice, general manager of hospitality operations at Barr Hill Gin Distillery. "Being one of only two distilleries recognized is a testament to what is so amazing about our team. While other bars have every ingredient at their disposal, we get to really focus on a world-class spirit that is made here in Vermont."

At the heart of the Distillery's bar program is a dedication to crafting cocktails that transcend the ordinary, while its food program focuses on seasonal pairings and showcases the finest ingredients, sourced directly from Vermont's rich agricultural landscape.

“We are inspired by the flavors and terroir of Vermont,” Amice said. “Our menu and cocktail program at the distillery endeavors to reconnect cocktail culture to its agricultural roots.”

Visitors to the Distillery on Gin Lane in Montpelier can also experience behind-the-scenes tours and tastings, in-depth cocktail classes and educational pairings, a shop full of Distillery-only exclusives – such as limited edition spirits and merchandise – as well as hallmark events including its annual Tropical Week, taking place February 24, 2024 through March 3, 2024. 

Winners of the James Beard Awards will be announced at the Restaurant and Chef Awards ceremony on June 10, 2024.
