Public media veteran joins UVM community news center

The Center for Community News at the University of Vermont, a national resource for colleges and universities that provide student reporting to local news outlets, has hired veteran journalist Scott Finn to spearhead a new effort to build partnerships between public media organizations and colleges across the country.

In this role, Finn, who oversaw the successful merger of VPR and Vermont PBS and now owns his own consulting firm, Finn Advising, will help public media organizations take advantage of student-reported journalism at colleges and universities.

“Scott’s background as a teacher, reporter, organizer and public radio leader make him a perfect fit for our team,” said the center's managing director, Meg Little Reilly. “Public media and universities are natural partners, and we are excited about the potential impact of these efforts to revive local news and information in communities across the U.S.”
