The Champlain Housing Trust, a membership-based nonprofit organization that creates and preserves affordable housing in northwest Vermont, recently elected two new members to its board of directors and presented leadership awards to three individuals and two organizations.
Newly elected to the board for three-year terms were Regina Mahoney, city manager of Essex Junction (public member), and Isaac Owusu, director of community engagement and support for the Vermont Racial Justice Alliance (resident member).
Award recipients were:
- State Rep. Tom Stevens (D-Watertbury), Brenda Torpy Founders Award for Exemplary Contributions to Perpetually Affordable Housing.
- Maida Townsend of South Burlington: Hilton Wick "Give Until It Feels Good" Fundraising Award, for her work over many years on the Cornerstone luncheon.
- Gordon Gokey of Burlington: Joan Beauchemin Civic Engagement Award, for community service by a Champlain Housing Trust resident.
- Shelburne Craft School: Carole Pack Volunteer Award, for engagement with and support of Harbor Place guests.
- Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity: Community Partner Award, for working with CHT on programs and taking on difficult challenges.
