VTSU Castleton men’s hockey to host 3rd annual 'Breaking the Ice on Mental Health'

Vermont Business Magazine On Friday, February 2, Vermont State University Castleton Men’s Hockey team will host the third annual Breaking the Ice on Mental Health event as they take on Southern Maine in a 7pm game at Spartan Arena. 

The Castleton Men’s Hockey team, led by head coach, Kyle Richards, is made up of a diverse team of players from around the world who are establishing strong ties in our local region.

“The team is grateful for the overwhelming support this event has received the past two seasons, and we are proud to be hosting it for a third consecutive year," said Richards. "Having a resource like Rutland Regional Medical Center in our back yard is invaluable and to be able to give back to the community is something that means a lot to our student-athletes and coaching staff.”

All proceeds from the event, including admission and an online auction for authentic Breaking the Ice jerseys, will benefit Rutland Regional Behavioral Health services. To bid on the auction go to https://www.32auctions.com/BTI2024

On February 2, fans will also have the opportunity to purchase commemorative Breaking the Ice on Mental Health tee-shirts and participate in a raffle and bake sale at the event. The first 200 fans through the door will receive a custom green towel courtesy of Foley Services. The cost of admission for the game is $7 for adults, $4 for seniors and $2 for students.

Rutland Regional Medical Center is grateful to the Castleton Men’s Hockey team for initiating this event to raise awareness and support for mental health services.
