Insurance association honors three members, awards scholarship to fourth

The Vermont Association of Insurance Professionals in October recognized three of its members for their service to the insurance industry and awarded a fourth member a coveted scholarship.

The service honorees are Paula Clark, Insurance Professional of the Year; Tasha Austin-Shortt, Professional Underwriter of the Year; and Crista Peck, Client Services Professional of the Year. All three are employees of the Vermont Mutual Insurance Group.

Clark, a senior executive assistant now in her 34th year at VMIG, was cited for her "vast knowledge and experience" that has proved invaluable to her colleagues and associates. Austin-Shortt, an eight-year industry professional, has worked in both personal and commercial lines underwriting for Vermont Mutual since 2019. Peck has supported customers as an accounts receivable representative and now is a business analyst collaborating with business teams on information-technology initiatives.

Also in October, the VTAIP named Stephanie Oakes, an eight-year veteran of the property and casualty insurance industry, as 2023 recipient of the Dayle Smedy Education Scholarship. The prize, sponsored by New England Excess Exchange, awards one association member each year up to $500 toward a continuing education course in their field.
