Find a convenient disposal kiosk location near you
Vermont Department of Health Prescription Drug Take Back Day is October 28. With over 80 locations statewide, getting rid of unused medication is easy and more convenient than ever. Check the list below to find the pharmacy, health care facility and police departments that host free and easy to use kiosks. The list also includes times you can drop of your medication and what type of medication is accepted.
Safely storing and disposing of prescriptions
One important reason to be careful about how you store and dispose of prescriptions is that a common source for the misuse of pain medications is a relative or a friend. In fact, nearly half of the people who misused pain prescriptions obtained them from a relative or friend.
But, there are other reasons as well.
Medications that are not properly stored in your home can be a risk to kids and pets who might accidentally ingest them. And, flushing medications or tossing them in the trash is a danger to our waterways and wildlife.
That is why we’re asking you to follow these three easy steps to properly store and get rid of medications.
