Vermont Business Magazine Vermont Low Income Trust for Electricity (VLITE) is seeking applicants to serve as a member of the Vermont Electric Power Company, Inc. (VELCO) Board of Directors for a term beginning in April, 2024. VELCO serves as the operator and manager of Vermont’s high voltage electric transmission system. More information about VELCO, its mission, and its current board can be found at www.velco.com. Board members receive compensation for meetings and subcommittee participation. There are, on average, six meetings of the full board per year and additional committee meetings.
A candidate should possess governance, technical, and/or public interest experience to demonstrate ability to exercise fiduciary duties as a VELCO Board member. Experience in the electricity sector is NOT a requirement for applying. Successful board members are expected to learn about complex subject matter and be engaged participants.
Candidates must attest that they are independent, specifically meaning that (1) neither the candidate nor any member of their immediate family within the past year has been a director, officer, employee, or representative of VELCO or of any Shareholder (electric utilities); or (2) has had any material business relationship with VELCO or any Shareholder of their affiliates.
