David Hall, former attorney in the Vermont Office of Legislative Counsel, has been appointed director of corporations in the Office of the Vermont Secretary of State. In his new role, Hall will oversee the critical mission of transparency and accountability in the business services division of the agency, which handles filings for all business types and manages more than 225,000 entities in its database.
“I have experience working with David in the Legislature, and I found him to be dedicated and innovative with a unique ability to bring a spirit of fun to work,” said Secretary of State Sarah Copeland Hanzas. “The Secretary of State’s office is one of the first stops for setting up a new business in Vermont, and our ongoing compliance relationship with established businesses makes our corporations division very much part of the overall business landscape in the state. We are so happy to have David at the helm to help us with this essential work.”
A long-time public servant, Hall has been ensuring the legality of legislation created by the Vermont House of Representatives and Senate since 2008. His deep-seated relationships with the Legislature and familiarity with the legislative process make him uniquely qualified to support the Secretary and her team with their work in the State House, Copeland Hanzas said.
Hall is a graduate of Wake Forest University and holds a law degree from Vermont Law and Graduate School. He is a small-business owner in the state and has served as an adjunct professor at Vermont Law School.
