NEK Chamber working on new web site/database

Will Offer Chamber Members Stronger Benefits/Promotion

Vermont Business Magazine The Northeast Kingdom Chamber of Commerce is putting out an appeal for its chamber members to update their web listings and contact information in preparation for the organization’s new database and web site programs. The chamber is partnering with a nationwide company that specifically caters to chambers.

The new system will integrate seamlessly across the organization’s five member-based data programs: the web site, database, directory, newsletter and financial software.

Under the new program, each member will have their own profile and will be able to change their contact or web page information at any time. The new system will also allow members to easily access benefit programs offered by the chamber. Members will be sent instructions on how to easily set up, access and update their profiles when the site goes live.

“We made the decision to go this high-tech route after talking with many of our colleagues throughout the state,” said NEK Chamber Director Darcie McCann. “In addition to offering far more direct and immediate benefits to members, it will also prove to be a tremendous time saver for our organization, as our information will be that more accurate and timely.”

In preparation for the importation of the chamber’s database software and web site programs, the organization is asking its members to make any needed changes prior to the move. More information on this move will be sent out to members through the chamber’s newsletter and Facebook pages.

In redesigning the new web site, the chamber is being mindful to include many of the most popular elements from the old site, including the activities calendar, business directory, hospitality and service sections and the Business Resource Guide, said McCann.

“There is no better time to be a chamber member, as this site will allow us to offer continuous updates, upgrades and design changes,” she said. This system comes on the heels of the chamber lowering the cost of one of its membership levels, for sole proprietors, giving businesses the opportunity to join the chamber for under $200.

“In starting this new chapter for the chamber, we would like to thank Scott Wells and Shari Chouinard, from the Cambium Group, who designed and assisted us with our last two beautiful sites,” she said. The director is also grateful for her board, who continue to embrace cutting-edge technologies for the chamber and its members.
