Explore Vermont’s seasonal produce, specialty crops, and local food with a Vermont Fresh Network
member chef
(Richmond, Vermont) - Vermont Fresh Network (VFN) is excited to invite local
food enthusiasts to join VFN-member chefs on a series of farmers market tours in Burlington,
Montpelier, and the Champlain Islands.
These tours will offer Vermont food enthusiasts and visitors to Vermont an opportunity to
experience first-hand how chefs approach a farmers market, how they interact with their farm and
producer partners, and how they’re inspired by local, seasonal ingredients and Vermont specialty
crops.
“We’re excited for this chef-lead farmers market tour series to build connections between the
dining public, farms, and chefs here in Vermont,” said Tara Pereira, VFN Executive Director.
“Whether you’re stopping by a farmers market or choosing to visit restaurants that prioritize local
food partnerships, we hope people will leave these tours inspired by Vermont’s talented chefs who
are working with our farmers everyday to bring the best of our state to the table.”
Tour participants will also take home recipe cards from the chef leading the tour, so they can enjoy
the seasonal locally-grown ingredients that will be highlighted - and learn to prepare specialty
crops that may be new to them.
Tours include:
● Burlington Farmers Market with Pastry Chef Laura Schantz of Hen of the Wood, Doc
Ponds, and Prohibition Pig - Saturday, Sept. 2 at 8:45am.
● Capital City Farmers Market with Chef Stefano Coppola of Morse Block Deli and Pearl
Street Pizza - Saturday, Sept. 2 at 8:45am.
● Champlain Islands Grand Isle Farmers Market with the chef/restaurant team at Kraemer &

This farmers market tour series is supported by a Specialty Crop Block Grant awarded to Vermont
Fresh Network by the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food, and Markets, to support farm to table
collaboration and connect the dining public to local food in restaurants and markets in their
communities.
