HomeShare Vermont leader Kirby Dunn to retire after 23 years

Vermont Business Magazine On Friday, September 15, HomeShare Vermont’s Executive Director Kirby Dunn is stepping down from the position she’s held for the past 23 years. Dunn has overseen many changes at the non-profit since joining in 2000, as the program has grown from serving one county to seven and emerging as a leader among other states, a model studied because of its organization and successes.

HomeShare Vermont connects people to share homes for mutual benefit (rent, chores or a combination of the two) and its careful vetting process works to create strong matches that meet homeowners’ and guests’ needs.

“I believe HomeShare Vermont has been so successful because its wonderful mission attracts the most amazing people as volunteers, board members, donors and staff,” Dunn said. “It really has been a team effort to get us to where we are today, and I want to thank everyone who helped make that possible.”

HomeShare Vermont Board President Margaret Cicchetti said, “While everyone involved will be sad to see Kirby go, HomeShare Vermont is in a great position for our next leader to take the reins because of her many years of expertise and dedication. Knowing the strength of the finances and the knowledge of the staff and board members, Kirby can enjoy the retirement she deserves while HSVT continues as a leader in homesharing.”

Connor Timmons, former executive director at the Common Ground Center in Starksboro, will replace Dunn in the leadership role.
