Find Feed in VT With the Farm Feed-Finder Marketplace

Vermont Agency of Agriculture Food & Markets This summer's severe weather, with flooding and persistent rain, has created big challenges for many farmers in putting up, and/or sourcing feed for their livestock. Thousands of acres of hay and corn were lost to the July floods - and the near constant rain has impacted feed growth and kept many famers from being able to access their fields as the ground is simply too wet.

Knowing just how many farmers are facing feed challenges, the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets (VAAFM), and the Vermont Agency of Digital Services (ADS) have created an online directory for those looking to buy and/or sell feed. “The constant rain this summer has created a feed shortage for many farmers. This new, free directory is an easy way for those looking for feed to connect with those with feed for sale,” said Anson Tebbetts, Vermont’s Secretary of Agriculture.

Those selling hay, alfalfa, corn, soy, silage, and haylage can easily advertise their feed on the directory and can include details like whether the feed is organic and if the seller can deliver. For farmers looking for feed, the directory provides an easy platform through which they can quickly view availability, location, and pricing.

VAAFM and ADS are encouraging feed sellers from across the northeast and Canada to utilize the site. Registration is free and takes just a few minutes and sellers will benefit from the wide-scale promotion of this resource.
