Bank of Burlington customer sensitive PII not at risk from alleged data breach

Vermont Business Magazine Bank of Burlington has confirmed that a recent data breach experienced by a 3rd party partner has not put customer sensitive personally identifiable information (SPII) at risk. On July 12th, the bank was notified by Darling Consulting Group (DCG), of a breach incident that occurred on DCG MOVEit servers. Bank of Burlington responded immediately and confirmed no SPII was compromised or ever at risk.

A recent article published by local media outlets references a data breach specific to PBI Research Services. This was a separate, isolated incident; neither Bank of Burlington nor DCG are affiliated with PBI Research Services’ MOVEit file transfer systems.

The safety and security of our customers are always top of mind for Bank of Burlington. We analyzed the situation closely and concluded the risk of malicious misuse of information is very low. Our customers were notified immediately and reassured of our commitment to their safety.

“Our customers are of the utmost importance to us. We are here to serve the local community, and we’ll continue to protect their security, keep them informed and provide options when necessary in situations such as these,” said Geoffrey Hesslink, President and CEO. “We are thankful for our customer’s trust in us and take the responsibility of their safety seriously.”
