Vermont National Guard host 25th annual Retiree Appreciation Day Aug 12

The Vermont National Guard is scheduled to host the 25th annual Retiree Appreciation Day on Camp Johnson in Colchester, Vermont, Saturday August 12th from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Military retirees from all branches of the Armed Forces and Uniformed Services are welcomed to attend and receive information or services from Veterans Administration (VA), Veteran cemeteries, Veteran homes, DEERS/ID card renewals, wills from military attorneys, health care information, and survivor benefits.

“This event is available to all military retirees, regardless of branch of service,” said U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Melanie LaPerle, retirement services officer, Vermont Army National Guard. “There are many services provided at this event and it is a chance for our military retirees to gain information on benefits they are entitled to receive or to do something as simple as renewing their retiree ID Card.”

This event is in cooperation with The Army Retiree Councils from Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. The Retiree Appreciation Day rotates annually between the three states.

“We have a lot of information and services available for our military retirees at this event,” said LaPerle. “This is a great opportunity to learn new information, use their earned military benefits from service, or JAG assists to update their wills.”

Camp Johnson is located at 789 Vermont National Guard Rd. Colchester, Vt. 05446.
