
Secretary Lindsay Kurrle announces $20 million for grants to support flood recovery for businesses.
Storm Response Update
Agency of Commerce and Community Development FEMA officially added two additional counties to the federal Individual Assistance Disaster Declaration signed by President Joseph Biden last week. The declaration now allows residents of Orange and Caledonia to apply for federal assistance for personal losses during this month’s storm and floods. Chittenden, Lamoille, Rutland, Washington, Windham, and Windsor counties had previously been approved.
Business Support Grants
The Department of Economic Development will soon offer grants to help businesses and nonprofits in their recovery. Governor Phil Scott and ACCD Secretary Lindsay Kurrle announced the creation of the Business Emergency Gap Assistance Programwhich will provide $20M in state grants for Vermont businesses and nonprofits that suffered physical losses in the flood. More details will be available next week.

The Department of Taxes is also reminding businesses impacted by the flood that they can take advantage of temporary state and federal tax relief. Visit the Vermont Department of Taxes website for more information.
Municipal Recovery Support
The Treasurer’s Office announced today that it will accelerate $11 million in State payments to 40 Vermont towns most impacted by last week’s flooding. Originally scheduled for disbursement later in the fiscal year, these funds will now be fast-tracked to towns to ensure they have a steady cash flow to support ongoing recovery efforts.
Department of Liquor and Lottery Releases Storm Guidance
In conjunction with the Department of Health and the Agency of National Resources, the Department of Liquor and Lottery has developed the guidance to Vermont businesses with liquor licenses for how to safely and legally disposed of storm-impacted alcohol. You can find this guidance document HERE.
