Carol Ferrante, practice manager for Mansfield Orthopaedics at Copley, was recently presented with the U.S. Defense Department's Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriot Award for supporting and accommodating a former subordinate, Susan Demers, while her husband, Wayne, was deployed with the Jericho Army National Guard in 2021-22.
"I honestly could not have made it through his deployment without (Mansfield Orthopaedics') support and understanding," said Demers, who nominated Ferrante for the award.
Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve is a DoD office that builds and enhances relationships between Guard and Reserve members and their civilian employers. They accomplish this mission by educating service members and employers concerning their rights and responsibilities under federal law; recognizing supportive employers through a series of awards; and resolving minor conflicts, as needed.
