Vermont Business Magazine Continuing ThrED, Inc. at Fourbital Factory has been awarded a $20,231 Registered Apprenticeship grant from the Vermont Department of Labor’s Workforce Development Division. The grant will provide support for the administration of the program and assist with the purchase of equipment necessary to implement Fundamentals of Industrial Sewing and Production (FISP) courses as part of Fourbital Factory’s Industrial Sewing Registered Apprenticeship Program.
Continuing ThrED, a new, nonprofit organization that aims to “inspire learners who want to imagine, design, and create a better world” will offer two 192-hour FISP courses, exposing students to current industry practices, technology, and advancements in the manufacturing industry.
Fourbital Factory, a relatively new business in Burlington, was approved for its Registered Apprenticeship program in Industrial Sewing in 2023. A Registered Apprenticeship is an earn-while-you-learn training program that combines on-the-job training, post-secondary coursework, and mentoring, and provides the student with an industry recognized credential upon the successful completion of the program.
Jay Ramsey, Workforce Development Director at the Vermont Department of Labor, shared the following statement: “This investment in Fourbital Factory and Continuing ThrED’s program represents the latest efforts to expand Registered Apprenticeships in new industries in Vermont. These funds will be used to train a diverse workforce and to help reinvigorate the sewing industry in Chittenden County.”
