Celebrate the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail with Governor Scott and Senator Sanders

Vermont Agency of Agriculture Food & Markets Governor Phil Scott and Senator Bernie Sanders invite everyone to participate in a celebration of the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail – recently completed and now the longest rail trail in New England!

On Saturday, July 15th, the Governor will bike the entire 93-mile trail from Swanton to St Johnsbury and make brief water stops along the trail with Senator Sanders. The public is invited to join all or part of the governor’s ride and any of the planned brief stops.

Lamb Slaughter Workshop

Lamb Slaughter Workshop

Join Rural VT on July 22nd at Fledgling Farmstead in Tunbridge for a two-part workshop on humane lamb slaughter and processing

The morning will be focused on on farm slaughter, while the afternoon will include how to process a lamb as well as updates on on-farm slaughter regulation. 

Tickets are $40 for part one or $70 for part one and two. You can bring your own lunch or for $13 a farm lunch will be provided.

Dairy Herd Health Workshop

Dairy Herd Health Workshop

Join UVM Extension on July 13th for a hands-on dairy herd health workshop hosted by Cedar Mountain Farm and led by veterinarian Dr. Dayna Locitzer, DVM.

The group will discuss the principles of herd health, a cow's daily time budget, physical exam of the cow, demonstration of clinical skills like knot tying and administering injections, calving, and when to intervene. 

This workshop is for dairy farmers looking to deepen their clinical skills and understanding of herd health management.

This workshop is free and lunch will be provided.

A federal two-year grant has been awarded to the Vermont Manufacturing Extension Center (VMEC) to assist small and medium-sized manufacturers in building their supply chain initiatives.
