Melanee Alexander, former assistant principal at Burlington High School, has been named principal of Lyman C. Hunt Middle School, one of two middle schools in the Burlington School District. She begins her new position on July 1.
“I am thrilled to welcome Principal Alexander as the next leader of HMS,” said district Superintendent Tom Flanagan. “In her time at BHS, she has been a committed leader and has made a significant impact in our district. I know she will carry this forward and be a great asset to Hunt Middle School.”
Prior to joining the Burlington schools, Alexander served for 15 years as associate dean of students at Brookline (Mass.) High School. She holds a Master of Education in educational leadership and administration from Simmons University in Boston.
Alexander will join Megan Munson-Warnken, who was recently appointed assistant principal at Hunt. She previously served as student success coordinator and as interim principal at Burlington’s Sustainability Academy, a magnet school for pre-K and K-5 students.
