Vermont Business Magazine Common Good Vermont is now accepting applications for this year’s Nonprofit Management (NPM) Certificate Program. Designed for active practitioners and leaders in the nonprofit sector, this program dives into the core competencies of nonprofit management and emerging nonprofit issues. Whether you are currently in a leadership position or new to Vermont’s vibrant nonprofit community, we’ll cover content that is meaningful, relevant, and applicable to your personal and professional growth.
Debbie Lavoie, Manager of the Abenaki Nation of Missisquoi Food Pantry, agrees. Her message to prospective participants? “Please do not hesitate to enroll in the 2023 NPM Program or you will be missing out on a wealth of knowledge and information! Being new to my position (and coming from a background of 40 years in the retail world), my first instinct was, "I don't have the time" - but I did…I especially enjoyed my breakout group and the sharing, collaboration and networking that took place in each session. The presenters touched on all aspects of the nonprofit sphere. I felt I was able to take these tools and bring them back with me to my organization to share with the Board.”
In its fourth year as an independent, virtual program, the NPM Certificate is Vermont’s longest-standing training program for nonprofit leaders and the only program of its kind. Participants will engage with content through a mix of self-guided learning, bi-weekly virtual classes, and cohort discussions and connections. Our list of trainers and speakers includes some of Vermont’s leading nonprofit consultants, funders, and policymakers who support Vermont’s nonprofit sector. This year’s program will start on October 6th and meet online bi-weekly through January.
Topics covered include, but are not limited to:
- Personal & Organizational Leadership
- Governance & Board Leadership
- Organizational Development & Strategic Planning
- Human Resources & People Management
- Fundraising & Development
- Nonprofit Financial Management
- Outcomes & Evaluation
Applications for the 2023-2024 cohort will be accepted on a rolling basis until the program is full. Financial assistance is available for eligible participants. For more information or to apply to Common Good Vermont’s Nonprofit Management Certificate Program, visit www.commongoodvt.org.
