Authors Zoë Tilley Poster, Kathryn Davis, Caren Beilin and Bianca Stone were named as winners in this year's Vermont Book Awards competition. The four received their awards, which carry a $1,000 prize, during a celebration hosted by Vermont Humanities at the Vermont College of Fine Arts on May 6.
Poster won in the category of children’s literature for her debut picture book, "The Night Wild" (Dial Books), which she both wrote and illustrated. Davis, the author of eight acclaimed novels, won this year’s award in creative nonfiction for her debut memoir, "Aurelia, Aurélia" (Graywolf Press). Beilin received the award in fiction for her novel "Revenge of the Scapegoat" (Dorothy, a publishing project). The award in poetry went to poet Stone, creative director at the Ruth Stone House, for "What Is Otherwise Infinite" (Tin House Books).
The winners were chosen from a pool of 14 finalists by a panel comprising writers, readers, editors, librarians and booksellers of Vermont.
The Vermont Book Awards are supported by a partnership among the Vermont College of Fine Arts; the Vermont Department of Libraries; and Vermont Humanities, a state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
