Kellie Klasen, acting executive director of student support services for the Burlington School District, has been appointed to the position on a permanent basis. Klasen joined the district last November as associate director and stepped in as acting director in January.
“I am thrilled to welcome Kellie Klasen to BSD’s leadership team,” said Superintendent Tom Flanagan. “She has a wealth of experience in special education, and she has done a great job building relationships with our building leaders these past two months. I am excited that she will continue to guide our district as we work to serve our students and ensure all learners in BSD are challenged, empowered and engaged.”
"I am excited to be a part of the shift in the dynamic at Burlington School District in regard to inclusivity and student support services,” Klasen said. “The positive energy that staff show in wanting to meet student needs is palpable and exciting, and I’m looking forward to supporting and fostering that energy any way I can."
Klasen previously spent five years as student services district coordinator in another state and came highly recommended for the Burlington role. She’s also received high praise from the district’s leadership team during her time as acting director.
