Lisa Kingsbury, associate director of planning at the University of Vermont, and Peter Dysart, an attorney at Primmer Piper Eggleston & Cramer, were elected in December to the Burlington Businesses Association Board of Directors.
In her role at UVM, Kingsbury oversees the university's overall land-use planning and regulatory processes and space-planning management and serves as the school's liaison with community and institutional groups and municipalities specific to land use. At Primmer Piper, Dysart advises banks and credit unions on contract and governance issues, as well as compliance and commercial lending matters. He also assists companies in the formation and ongoing representation of all types of captive insurance companies and other alternative risk-financing vehicles.
“We are thrilled to have Lisa and Peter join the board of directors,” said BBA Executive Director Kelly Devine said. “Lisa has shown herself to be a knowledgeable and engaged community leader. Peter, a Vermont native who recently moved back home, will provide legal support and a unique perspective to the BBA’s work to serve Burlington businesses.
Earlier last year, Michael Casella, market area manager at Casella Waste Systems; Ryan Nick, marketing manager at JL Davis Realty; and Jack Wallace, co-owner of Burlington Harbor Marina joined the board. Casella brings to the board broad experience in both the private and public sectors, particularly in the field of waste and recycling. Nicks brings expertise in sales and leasing, marketing, property management, human resources, and tenant and community relations. And Wallace provides decades of real estate development, construction and management experience.
The mission of the BBA is to enhance and promote the economic vitality of Burlington and to assure that the city continues as the cultural, social, political, educational and economic center of northwestern Vermont.
