Scott Boardman, the recently retired CEO of Hickok & Boardman Insurance Group, was named winner of the 2023 Catherine McAuley Award by Mercy Connections, an educational and social justice organization based in Burlington. The award is presented annually to a person who exemplifies the ideals of 19th-century Irish leader Catherine McAuley, founder of the Sisters of Mercy.
“We are so proud to honor Scott, a well-known, long-time, exemplary business leader who has quietly and humbly championed advancing our community and the common good,” said Lisa Falcone, executive director of Mercy Connections. “He is a person of high integrity who always leads with kindness and wisdom. He is the perfect choice for this award.”
Boardman, a past Mercy Connections board member, retired from Hickok & Boardman in February after a successful 40-year career. He and his wife, Carol, live in Burlington.
“I support Mercy Connections because it’s helping the most vulnerable folks in our community receive help in bettering their lives through education, social kindness and mentoring,” Boardman said. “In addition, Mercy Connections is an economic engine assisting people as they start businesses. This has created many jobs in our area, which is critical to a vibrant community.”
Boardman will be presented with his award May 2 at Mercy Connections’ annual Power of Connection event at Hula in Burlington.
