Sivan Cotel, co-founder of Stonecutter Spirits, has been named chief financial officer at Siempre Tequila. He will work remotely from Vermont. Siempre Tequila is available in 20 US states and five Canadian provinces and anticipates expanding into Vermont in the near future.
Cotel, a Wall Street and startup veteran, brings to Siempre Tequila more than 15 years of experience in finance, including 10 years specifically in beverage alcohol. Stonecutter Spirits, the Vermont producer of gin and whiskey, was acquired in 2020 after a successful turnaround.
Before co-founding Stonecutter Spirits, Cotel was chief financial officer and chief operating officer of WhistlePig Whiskey, following a career on Wall Street at Bear Stearns, JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
“I first joined the Siempre team in an interim role, but immediately fell in love with the company,” he said. “Our two founders work tremendously hard, the company is expanding at a rapid pace, and our fans are wildly passionate about the fantastic tequila we produce. Tequila is the fastest-growing category in alcohol, and about to pass vodka as the largest category in the U.S. When the leadership team asked me to stay on long-term, I was excited to say yes.”
