Sergio Alvares joins Vermont Small Business Development Center

Sergio Alvares, former senior associate at JPMorgan Chase & Co., has been named statewide adviser for strategic projects at the Vermont Small Business Development Center in Randolph Center.

In his new role, Alvares helps small-business owners optimize their time and money and reduce business risks by incorporating his expertise in finance, technology and cybersecurity. He also assists clients with the process of purchasing or selling a business through financial valuations and in-depth financial analysis.

“We are delighted to welcome Sergio to our statewide team of advisers,” said Linda Rossi, state director of VtSBDC. “His diverse national and international experience; his background in finance, digital solutions and technology hygiene; and his local and global outlook are extraordinary assets to our organization and to small business owners throughout our state.”

Prior to his tenure at JPMorgan Chase, where he led a global project team from finance, technology and operations to automate financial processes, Alvares served as finance and technology business analyst and adviser at Delaware’s Small Business Development Center.

He is a graduate of the Zurich University of Applied Sciences in Switzerland and holds an MBA in finance and a master's in information systems and technology management, both from the University of Delaware.
