Makuku named to succeed Moulton as CEO of Main Street Landing

Owiso Makuku, community development director for the town of Essex, VT, has been named chief executive officer of Main Street Landing in Burlington, effective Feb 22. She will succeed Melinda Moulton, who announced she will be stepping away from the company last October.

"I am absolutely overjoyed and thrilled to announce that Owiso Makuku will be stepping into my role as the new CEO for Main Street Landing," Moulton said. "Owiso is a dear old friend who I have worked with over the years. Hats off to our hiring team for finding the perfect person for this perfect job at this perfect moment in time."

Makuku graduated from Middlebury College and holds both a Master of Architecture and a Master in City Planning from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her experience includes work around the world on community development projects.

Makuku serves on the Steering Committee for the Vermont Affordable Housing Coalition, the Board of the Energy Co-op of Vermont and CarShareVT, and is a former chair of the Burlington 2030 Energy District Program. She is certified as a LEED Green associate by the US Green Building Council.
