Norwich University president Anarumo joins AVIC executive committee

Norwich University President Dr Mark Anarumo will join the executive committee of the Association of Vermont Independent Colleges for a two-year term beginning June 1. The executive committee provides strategic support and advice to the AVIC president and other AVIC member presidents.

“AVIC has been highly influential in many positive ways, personally and institutionally, during my first year as president of Norwich University,” said President Anarumo, who assumed his role as Norwich’s president June 1, 2020. “The leaders of our member institutions are remarkable, and I am proud to call them friends and colleagues. I look forward to serving AVIC and Vermont in this new capacity. It is truly an honor.”

The Association of Vermont Independent Colleges (AVIC) is the only statewide organization that represents exclusively the interests of private higher education in Vermont. AVIC provides public policy leadership, fosters cooperative efforts among institutions, and serves as the liaison between its members and the state and federal government.

Established in 1981, the association seeks to strengthen the quality of higher education in Vermont, increase accessibility to the broadest range of students, and foster cooperative efforts among its member institutions and all segments of higher education.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Anarumo to our leadership team to advance AVIC’s important work supporting private colleges and universities in the state of Vermont,” AVIC President Susan Stitely said.

AVIC is dedicated to expanding the capacity of Vermont’s independent educational network and attracting students who will contribute to the state’s future workforce as well as the economic, civic, and cultural life of Vermont.

As a voice of independent higher education in Vermont, AVIC works to inform the public about the vital importance of independent colleges and universities to the future of Vermont.
