The Green Mountain Council Camping Committee is pleased to announce that Alison Hampson has been selected to lead its 2021 Summer Resident Camping Program as Camp Director for the co-located Cub Scout and Scout's BSA programs at Mt. Norris Scout Reservation.
Alison brings deep experience in organizing successful Cub Scout Programs and served as Business Manager for Mount Norris Scout Reservation in 2019.
"I look forward to working with the amazing people in our Council to provide an outstanding summer experience for the youth in Green Mountain Council," Alison said after accepting the position. "I am energized, inspired, and eager to get kids back outside and at camp. We have a tremendous team assembled this year to provide a safe and fun camp experience. I hope to see many new campers this year at Mt. Norris Scout Reservation."
Like many Scouters, Alison and her husband Mark, first became involved in Scouting when their older son Philip (now an Eagle and Philmont staffer since 2017) came home in first grade with a flyer to join Cub Scouts.
"I didn't turn khaki until the second son became a Tiger and been in some sort of leadership or service ever since," said Alison reflecting on her 14 years of volunteer service to Scouting.
Alison quickly took on additional leadership opportunities beyond the Pack and has been a Day Camp Staffer since 2007. She has been instrumental in organizing the Three Rivers Day Camp since 2012.
After moving to Vermont from the Great Trail Council (Ohio) in 2012, she has served as the Treasurer for Troop 692, Crew 658 Assistant Advisor, Cub Scout Round Table Commissioner, and served on the Three Rivers District Committee.
"Vermont is amazing - I love how easy it is to get outside and do things - hike, snowshoe, kayak, fish, enjoy quiet spaces - having lived other places I have a deep appreciation for Vermont, and all our state has to offer," said Alison noting she wouldn't live anywhere else.
A Wood Badge trained leader, Alison served as a Troop Guide for N3-592-17 and ASM Troop Guide for N3-592-19. She is slated to serve as the SPL for Green Mountain Council's upcoming course in 2022.
She is a 2-time recipient of the District Award of Merit from both Great Trail and Green Mountain Councils.
Alison and her husband Mark have been married for 30 years. Alison currently works at South Burlington High School with intensive needs students, and is pursuing her Masters of Education from UMass Boston to work with visually impaired students.
Please join us in congratulating Alison and giving her your full support as we pioneer a safe and exciting summer resident camp program!
