The Stern Center for Language and Learning is pleased to announce that Stefanie Waite is the nonprofit’s new Professional Learning Director. Stefanie oversees the quality, accessibility, and growth of the Stern Center’s professional learning programs for educators. The Stern Center delivers courses and workshops for educators in-person and online for nearly 1,000 participants annually. A passionate educator with expertise in structured literacy, curriculum, and assessment, Stefanie has worked in the education field for 25 years. Previously, she oversaw marketing and messaging for the Stern Center as Communications Director, leveraging educational expertise to promote the organization and to engage stakeholders in transformational change. For nearly twenty years Stefanie performed comprehensive evaluations for clients of all ages, specializing in identifying dyslexia, dysgraphia, language-based learning disorders, and giftedness. She has presented locally and nationally on topics related to reading instruction, written language, pragmatic language, and study skills. Stefanie has provided direct instruction to students and served as Director of the Instruction and Evaluation Programs. Prior to joining the Stern Center, she was trained in the Orton-Gillingham Approach and taught at a private boarding school for students with significant learning disabilities. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in education through Concordia University. She holds a Master of Education degree from St. Michael’s College.
The Stern Center for Language and Learning is a nonprofit educational resource in Williston, VT dedicated to enriching the lives of learners. For 36 years the organization has recognized that all great minds don’t think alike, and its staff helps children and adults reach their academic, social, and professional goals. The Stern Center provides research-based learning evaluations and customized instruction for a wide range of clients, including those with learning disabilities, dyslexia, language disorders, social learning challenges, autism, attention deficit disorders, and learning differences. Hoehl Institute for Excellence, the Stern Center works with school districts, schools, and individual educators to advance early literacy, oral language, reading, written language, social cognition, executive functioning, and math.
