Jim Caffry has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Special Needs Alliance (SNA), a national invitation-only association of special needs planning attorneys established in 2002. Jim has been an SNA member since 2007 and is the only SNA member in Vermont.
Special needs planning services include special needs trust drafting and administration, guardianship and counsel in navigating the complex legal maze of laws, rules and policies governing public benefits and services.
Caffry Law’s practice is focused on assisting Vermonters with disabilities and their families in maintaining eligibility for important benefits and services while maximizing their quality of life and independence. Caffry Law also works with personal injury, family law, and estate planning attorneys throughout Vermont regarding special needs planning and disability benefit matters.
Jim is a parent of an adult child with special needs. He is a graduated of Colgate University, Vermont Law School, and Albany Law School. His law practice has been focused on special needs planning since 2006. He is a former member of the Vermont Autism Task Force and the Vermont Developmental Disabilities Council, as well as a former board member of Champlain Community Services (a direct service provider for individuals with intellectual disabilities). He is currently a member of the Statewide Advisory Committee on Developmental Services Payment Reform.
