Mulkern, CNM, MPH, joins NVRH

Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) welcomes Kathleen Mulkern, CNM, MPH, to its Women’s Wellness Center team. As a certified nurse midwife, Mulkern has been caring for mothers and babies for nearly three decades at clinics and hospitals in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. She most recently worked as a certified nurse midwife at Memorial Hospital in North Conway, New Hampshire.

“When I came to NVRH to visit, I was impressed by the scope of services the hospital had to offer,” Mulkern said. “It is a really special environment. It is clear how women-centered care is at this hospital, and there is a commitment to taking great care of mothers, babies and families.”

Mulkern completed the Boston University Nurse-Midwifery Education Program within the School of Public Health.

“Being a midwife fulfills my desire to connect with the women I work with and to make a difference in the world – one woman and one birth at a time,” Mulkern said. “I seek to empower women to lead healthy lives and to better care for themselves, their families and their communities.”

Mulkern will work in partnership with Anea LeLong, CNM, and Jade Kaplan, CNM, MPH, at NVRH.

Staffed by certified nurse midwives, women’s health nurse practitioners and obstetrician/gynecologists, the NVRH Women’s Wellness Center provides OB/GYN care to women of all ages and health needs. NVRH is also one of two Vermont hospitals to earn the recognition as a Baby-Friendly Hospital by the World Health Organization, which is an initiative that encourages and recognizes hospitals and birthing centers that offer the finest level of care for infant feeding and mother/baby bonding.
