ReSOURCE is proud to announce Carolyn Dubé has joined its Board of Trustees. An attorney at Bergeron, Paradis & Fitzpatrick, she specializes in real estate and environmental law litigation and land use and development law. Her three-year term begins immediately.
“Cary brings talent, expertise and energy to the table,” says ReSOURCE Executive Director Tom Longstreth. “We are very fortunate to have her by our side as we continue our mission to strengthen Vermont communities through job skills training, poverty relief, and environmental stewardship.”
After graduation from the University of Vermont with majors in Environmental Studies and Psychology, Dubé attended Northeastern University School of Law where she developed a foundation in litigation while completing full-time internships with the Environmental Protection Division of the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office and the Massachusetts Land Court. In addition, in her final year of law school, Cary interned with the Vermont Chapter of the Conservation Law Foundation and the General Counsel’s Office of Green Mountain Power. In both positions, she expanded her knowledge of Vermont development regulations and procedures.
Over the last 26 years, ReSOURCE has grown from a small reuse shop, selling furniture and appliances, to a multi-faceted organization that creates a marketplace for reuse with proceeds helping to fund workforce development, poverty relief, and environmental stewardship. ReSOURCE currently trains 275 people on average each year by using its stores in Burlington, Hyde Park, Barre, and now Williston to provide job and life skills training to displaced individuals and at-risk youth, while preventing more than 1,000 tons of material from ending up in the landfill annually. The nonprofit’s Essential Goods poverty relief program has awarded over $1.6 Million worth of goods to more than 14,000 low-income Vermonters.
