Eleven graduated high school seniors and adult learners majoring in the field of medicine were recently awarded scholarships of $2,500 each by the Central Vermont Medical Center Auxiliary.
This year’s recipients are: Abigale Savoie, Amy Putnam, Stella Otis, Katelyn Alger and Sadie Elizabeth Lozier of Spaulding High School; Brooke Elizabeth Houghton of U-32 High School; Mary Noel Riby-Williams of Montpelier High School; and Shannon Cookson, Leah Miller, Rachel Laggner and Kristin Grace Smith, all adult learners.
The CVMC Auxiliary was established in 1968 with the merger of Montpelier and Barre City hospitals. To date, its members have raised more than $1 million to support projects meeting both CVMC and community needs. Scholarships of $2,500 each have been awarded for the past six years.
“We’re thrilled to continue the Auxiliary’s 50-year legacy of making visible impact on our community's education and wellness by supporting these learners in their health care pursuits,” said Marilyn White, CVMC Auxiliary president.
Fund-raising efforts throughout the year, including an ongoing antique quilt raffle, holiday Love Light Tree, CVMC gift shop and Bene-Fit Shop sales, support the auxiliary’s scholarship program. To learn more, visit www.cvmc.org/about-cvmc/community/cvmc-auxiliary.
