The National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators (NAUPA), an affiliate of the National Association of State Treasurers (NAST), announced that Vermont State Treasurer Beth Pearce and Nebraska State Treasurer Don Stenberg were each awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual NAST Treasury Management Training Symposium, held in Orlando, Florida.
“The NAUPA Lifetime Achievement Award is our highest honor to recognize commitment and dedicated service to the association and also commitment to the mission of unclaimed property,” said Dennis Johnston, the administrator of Unclaimed Property in Utah and president of NAUPA.
Treasurer Pearce, who is also the current President of NAST, and Treasurer Stenberg earned this award for their tireless work to preserve consumer protections in unclaimed property by leading NAUPA through a four-year process in drafting and approving the Revised Uniform Unclaimed Property Act. “Treasurer Beth Pearce demonstrated incredible conflict resolution and collaborative leadership while Treasurer Stenberg brought a wealth of legal experience to his advocacy for consumers,” Johnston said.
NAUPA facilitates collaboration among administrators in their efforts to reunite unclaimed property with the rightful owner and is the foremost authority on unclaimed property. Members of NAUPA represent all states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, several Canadian provinces, and Kenya.
