Secretary of State Jim Condos announced today that S Lauren Hibbert has been named the next Director of the Vermont Office of Professional Regulation (OPR). Hibbert has worked at OPR since 2011, serving in the roles of Chief Prosecuting Attorney and as General Counsel for the licensing division. Secretary Condos stated, “Lauren was one of my first hires and has been a leader in the office ever since. I know Lauren appreciates serving the public as much as I do and I look forward to seeing her continue the trajectory of excellence we’ve experienced at OPR over the years.”
“Lauren has been leading the development team, building the enforcement side of our new licensing system. She knows our business backwards and forwards and has the right combination of skills to be a great Director,” said Deputy Secretary of State Chris Winters, who served the Office in that role from 2005-2014.
Hibbert is a graduate of Northeastern University School of Law and Mount Holyoke College. Prior to coming back home to Vermont, she lived in New York City where she worked as a public defender. Hibbert lives with her family in Montpelier.
Hibbert was named as the next Director when Colin Benjamin announced his resignation from the position. Colin is moving to Colorado to be closer to his family. Secretary Condos wishes to commend Benjamin on his years of service to the State of Vermont, including his leadership and direction for the Office of Professional Regulation.
The Vermont Office of Professional Regulation is the largest Division of the Secretary of State’s Office and provides public protection by regulating 50 professions with approximately 60,000 licensees.
