Tenth annual WERS 88.9 FM Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

On Saturday, June 2, Emerson College’s award–winning radio station WERS 88.9 FM hosted its annual WERS Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The event honors Emerson alumni (many of whom worked at the station) who have contributed greatly to the broadcasting industry. The 2018 inductees are Howard Lapides '72, CEO of Lapides Entertainment and executive producer of VH-1's Celebrity Rehab franchise and other programs; Wayne Larrivee '77, a well-known and versatile play-by-play announcer who is currently the voice of the Green Bay Packers on WTMJ in Wisconsin; Anson Tebbetts '87, who is celebrating 24 years as host of the weekly For The Birds heard on WDEV and WLBV in Vermont and is that state’s Secretary of Agriculture; Tina Martin '97, the Edward R. Murrow award-winning television and radio reporter/host with WGBH News at 89.7 FM in Boston and on the WGBH TV new program Greater Boston, and posthumously, Nancy Ryan, former Emerson College Trustee and longtime friend of WERS 88.9 FM

Anson Tebbetts '87, current Vermont Secretary of Agriculture, Tebbetts was News Director of WCAX at Mt. Mansfield Television, Inc., the Burlington, VT, the CBS television affiliate covering Vermont, New Hampshire, Northern New York, and Canada Tebbetts previously served as News Director at WDEV prior to joining the Channel 3 News in 1994. For 2 ½ years prior, Mr. Tebbetts served as the Deputy Secretary of Agriculture for the State of Vermont for a previous administration. Prior to that Tebbetts spent 13 years at WCAX. He was named WCAX-TV's Rutland Bureau Chief in 1994, and then transferred to the Montpelier Bureau in 1995. In 2000, he became one of three Senior Reporters for WCAX-TV, and in 2001 was named the Bureau Chief for the Montpelier Bureau. He covered the Northeast Kingdom, the White River Valley, Central Vermont and the State Capital. He served as the President of the Vermont Associated Press Broadcast Association and has won numerous awards from the Associated Press in both TV and Radio.
