Cannizzaro named Vice Chair of Youth Orchestra Division, League of American Orchestras

Rosina V Cannizzaro, executive director, Vermont Youth Orchestra Association, has been named vice chair of the Youth Orchestra Division Board of Directors within the League of American Orchestras Association, a national body representing symphony orchestras. The Essex, VT resident holds a Masters in Management and Non-Profit Leadership and has served as executive director of the VYOA since January 2012, after a filling a series of administrative positions with music organizations in New York City, including program associate manager at The Academy - a program of Carnegie Hall, The Juilliard School and Weill Music Institute.

The Youth Orchestra Division Directors serve as an advisory group to the League. The division promotes youth orchestras as essential musical, educational, and cultural assets within their communities. The division also provides resources to help all youth orchestras build and maintain artistic and organizational excellence. There are 129 youth orchestra programs across the country that are members of the League.

Nationally, youth orchestras serve tens of thousands of young people annually. Over 300 students in grades 1 – 12 from across Vermont and neighboring states participate in our three orchestras, two choruses, beginning string ensemble, community engagement programs, and summer camps, making the VYOA our region’s premier youth orchestra and chorus program.
