Attorney Timothy S Sampson of Charlotte has been named a director of the northern New England law firm Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC. Sampson was elected at the firm’s annual meeting in December and became a director on Jan 1. “Tim is a remarkable person and lawyer who has managed to serve major clients in the Washington DC area while commuting from his home in Charlotte for more than 10 years,” said David J Sylvester, chair of the Business Law Practice Group at DRM. “While he continues to serve clients in that market, we’re happy to have him at DRM working with our larger real estate clients who need sophisticated legal services.”
Sampson joined DRM in April 2015 as “of counsel” in the real estate practice group. His background and expertise crosses many areas of real estate law, including permitting and land use development, transactional work representing buyers, sellers and developers, and leasing. His clients include a major healthcare system, ski resort owners, a national home builder, and developers and business owners of all sizes in matters ranging from highly complex to ordinary.
Prior to joining DRM, Sampson was “of counsel” at Walsh Colucci, a roughly 35-lawyer firm in Fairfax County, Va. He graduated from George Mason Law School in 1995 and joined the DC firm in 1997 after a two-year clerkship with the Court of Appeals of Virginia. Sampson moved to Vermont in 2004 with his family, where he continued his Virginia-based practice until joining DRM.
