Hunger Free Vermont elects three to board of directors

Hunger Free Vermont, Vermont’s leading anti‐hunger organization working to end the injustice of hunger and malnutrition for all Vermonters, announced today the election of local accounting professional, Jennifer Andrews; Vermont Democratic Senator for Chittenden County, Michael Sirotkin; and Brian Waxler, Vice President & Chief Operating Officer at Pomerleau Real Estate to the organization’s Board of Directors. Stepping into Board leadership positions, current Hunger Free Vermont Board Members Sylvia Geiger, Registered Dietician and Lecturer at UVM’s Department of Food and Nutritional Services, has assumed the role of Chair of the Board; Amy Levine Director of Marketing at Cabot Creamery, is now Vice‐Chair; and Accounting and HR Professional, Paul Macuga, is now the Board’s Monitoring Officer. “It is an honor to have a wide array of dedicated and established business leaders on our Board of Directors,” said Marissa Parisi, Executive Director of Hunger Free Vermont. “With such talented and committed leaders on our board, I know Hunger Free Vermont will continue to build on our best practices and make strategic choices in our efforts to serve the hungry and food insecure in our communities.” Alison Bell, Partner at Langrock Sperry & Wool was re‐elected to serve a second, three‐year term on the Board. Board members that will continue their first and second terms on the board include: Darren Allen, Communications Director, Vermont‐NEA; Karen Allen, Community Volunteer; Colleen Brown, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge, District of Vermont; Laura Carlsmith, Director, Northfield Savings Bank Foundation; Jim Glazier, Rabbi, Temple Sinai; Steve Marinelli, Director of Food Services, Milton Town School District; Pamela Puthoor, Pediatric Gastroenterologist, UVM Medical Center Children's Hospital; Tom Torti, President, Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce; John Tunnicliffe, Director of Retail Operations, King Arthur Flour. Nate Hibler, Accounting Professional and Vermont Law School student has completed two terms on the board, but will continue to be a friend to the organization and committed to the mission of Hunger Free New Hunger Free Vermont Board Members: Michael Sirotkin (L), Jennifer Andrews (M), Brian Waxler (R) Vermont. Hunger Free Vermont is a statewide organization working to make long‐term systemic changes to end hunger and malnutrition in dignified ways to Vermonters of all ages. The organization’s strategies include advocating for systems that create economic self‐sufficiency as the key to life‐long food security; and integrating high‐impact nutrition and cooking education into the lives of all Vermonters. The Hunger Free Vermont Board consists of 16 directors, including 3 officers, and is responsible for working with the staff to establish long‐term goals, monitor general operations, approve the allocation of resources, and set policy positions.
