Kevin Mazuzan, formerly of New York, NY, has been assigned as Executive Director in Vermont for the region. Based in Burlington, VT, Mazuzan will serve as the Vermont liaison with donors, board members and local government to grow the Red Cross reach and service delivery in Vermont.
Prior to the Red Cross, Mazuzan was a paramedic and later an officer with the Fire Department of New York. He was assigned as a Lieutenant to the Bedford Stuyvesant area of Brooklyn, Downtown Manhattan and finally as a founding member of the Midtown West Station. Additionally, he acted as an NYC Office of Emergency Management FDNY Liaison.
Promoted to Captain in 2014, Mazuzan was assigned to FDNY Headquarters in the Bureau of EMS Operations as the Personnel and Fleet Liaison in addition to an Emergency Operation Command Officer. He recently graduated from the FDNY Counter Terrorism Leadership Program at West Point.
Kevin Mazuzan holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts from George Mason University concentrating in arts marketing and management. He served as the Director of Solo Arts Group, Inc., a non-profit arts organization in New York City where he managed the Solo Arts off-off Broadway Theater.
Karen Paquin assumes the position of Major Gifts Officer in Burlington, Vermont. In her twenty-year career, Paquin has managed and directed the development and programming efforts of several nonprofits such as the Center for Environmental Studies at Santa Monica College (Santa Monica, CA), the Conservation Law Foundation (Boston), the McKenzie River Trust (Eugene, OR), and the Vermont Symphony Orchestra.
She has provided oversight to endowment campaigns, managed individual and corporate giving programs, completed challenge grants, and established new programs. She also has her own company that provides consulting services to small nonprofits, and professional writing and editing services to academics. Karen holds an MS in Geography, Planning and Environment from Concordia University in Montreal and a BA in Geography/Environmental Studies from UCLA in Los Angeles.
The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies about 40 percent of the nation's blood; teaches skills that save lives; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a not-for-profit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
