NBT Bank President and Chief Executive Officer Martin Dietrich recently announced that Matthew K. Durkee has been promoted to executive vice president.
Durkee joined NBT Bank in 2009 to lead NBT Bank’s expansion into Vermont and establish a regional headquarters in Burlington. Today, he serves as regional president for NBT Bank in New England and also provides executive leadership for the bank’s Residential Mortgage Division.
“Matt has been a key driver of our efforts to extend NBT Bank’s service delivery area into New England,” said Dietrich. “We are also fortunate to leverage his extensive knowledge of banking to provide leadership for our Residential Mortgage Division. We look forward to his ongoing contributions to the success of our organization.”
Durkee has nearly 30 years of experience in banking. Prior to joining NBT Bank, he was senior vice president of regional financial services and president of Chittenden Canada for People’s United Bank, based in Bridgeport, Conn., and its predecessor, Chittenden Bank, based in Burlington. He began working for Chittenden Bank in 1985. Over the years, he oversaw functions related to commercial banking, international banking and consumer banking as well as trust and insurance services.
A resident of Williston, Durkee has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Green Mountain College and a graduate degree in banking from the American Bankers Association Stonier Graduate School of Banking. He is involved in several community and professional organizations, including the United Way of Chittenden County, Rice Memorial High School’s Stunt Night and the Vermont Banker’s Association as Chairman.
