Grafton Woodlands Group, Inc. (GWG), celebrates the opening of its environmental community resource and knowledge center at an open house on Friday, September 25, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The GWG Center is located at 205 Main Street in Grafton in the Old Post Office, (formerly the Historical Museum and Barrett & Co. Real Estate) across the street from the Grafton Library.
The opening celebration will feature the announcement of the first in GWG’s speaker series and a display of photographs by local photographers. The public is cordially invited to attend. Refreshments will be served.
GWG’s ongoing work will be to inform and engage citizens in discussions about local environmental and energy issues. The center offers a library of materials and resources for area residents and property owners with a focus on (but not limited to) natural resources, local and regional environment, and renewable energy generation. In addition, the center will launch a speaker series on a variety of subjects, and schedule movie nights featuring documentary films. The Center will be open regularly on Wednesdays and Fridays 10am to 4pm and at other times for programs and events. In addition, residents and visitors are welcome to stop in when the “Open” flag is out.
Elizabeth Cooper will serve as Program Manager. With a background in Forestry, Environmental Studies and Land Use Planning and with experience as an educator, she provides a wealth of expertise and looks forward to working with the Grafton community.
