Dartmouth-Hitchcock Putnam Physicians, the medical group that provides doctors and associate providers to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC), has named Bob Schwartz, MD, as associate medical director.
“Bob is a natural fit for this new position, having demonstrated a passion for teamwork in his practice at SVMC’s Northshire Campus and in other administrative roles,” said, Trey Dobson, MD, the medical director of the group and SVMC chief medical officer. “He has a strong understanding of how process improvement efforts can support clinicians and will be an asset to our medical group in this new position.”
In his role, Schwartz is responsible for clinical, operational, and quality initiatives. His work will include leadership of physician recruitment, primary care planning, and the use of information technology.
“I am excited to take on this new challenge and to serve Dartmouth-Hitchcok Putnam Physicians and my community in this broader capacity,” said Schwartz. “I am also grateful that I can go on seeing patients in the Northshire.”
Schwartz will continue his medical practice at the Northshire Campus at half time. An additional nurse practitioner, Carlie Felion, has been added to the Northshire staff to ensure adequate coverage for Dr. Schwartz’s patients.
The creation of this position allows Dobson to concentrate on service-line development and strategic alignment with the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Clinic.
SVMC is a full-service community hospital whose physicians are members of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Putnam Physicians, a multispecialty medical group operated in partnership with Dartmouth-Hitchcock.
