Myron Sopher, Managing Partner and Founder of Sopher Investment Management, Inc has announced the appointment of Matthew D. Johnson, CFA, as Partner in the firm. Having served as Portfolio Manager for Sopher Investment Management since 2006, Mr. Johnson has earned the trust, respect, and confidence of the many clients of the firm who have come to rely on him for his keen insight, thorough research, and disciplined execution - in short, to help them build and sustain wealth.
“I see this as an opportunity to promote from within the tremendous talent of Matthew and to further widen his exposure to the management of not only our clients’ interests, but those of the firm,” says Mr. Sopher.
Asked what sets Sopher Investment Management, Inc. apart from other investment management firms, Mr. Johnson summarizes it this way: “We respond to our clients by matching their personal goals with their investment objectives. Rather than plug a client into a profile, we custom build a portfolio for them which not only provides the kind of financial return they seek, but structure it in the kind of ethical and social framework that fits their expectations.”
“For example, for those who are primarily interested in socially responsible investments, we match them with the appropriate opportunities which exist in the world. At the end of the day, our clients feel confident that not only are they getting the kind of financial return they seek, they are able to do so in the way that reflects their personal and social values.”
Mr. Johnson holds a CFA designation. Prior to his nearly a decade’s worth of listening to and meeting the needs of the firm’s clients, his prior career also includes working in the Structured Finance group of Bombardier’s Aerospace and Rail transportation divisions. As the Manager of Credit Assessment he conducted due diligence visits and was responsible for rating, tracking, and monitoring customers, suppliers and partners. Earlier work experience includes positions at TD Banknorth’s Investment Group (formerly The Stratevest Group), State Street Corp, and Putnam Investments.
