Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center (MAHHC) has announced that Dr. Peter E. Rauert recently earned his board certification in Pain Management from the American Board of Anesthesiology. This certification signifies that Dr. Rauert has achieved the highest level of intensive study and assessment as a pain management specialist.
In addition to his work as a staff anesthesiologist at MAHHC, Dr. Rauert provides Pain Management care to patients who experience acute or chronic pain due to illness, injury, recovery from surgery, or other circumstances. Dr. Rauert, who first joined MAHHC in 2009, served as the Hospital’s Chief of Anesthesia until 2013. He went on to complete a Pain Medicine Fellowship at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire. He completed the fellowship in January 2014, when he rejoined MAHHC.
Dr. Rauert’s philosophy includes creating comprehensive, multi-disciplinary pain management treatment plans to reflect each patient’s unique needs. He collaborates with patients, their Primary Care Providers, and their entire health team to offer therapeutic options that decrease discomfort and maximize enjoyment of life, often incorporating on-site specialty services like Physiatry, Physical Therapy and Psychology. Rehabilitation and cancer patients at MAHHC often benefit from Dr. Rauert’s specialized knowledge and skills in managing bone, muscle or joint pain, as well as nervous system conditions.
“I’m grateful to have Dr. Rauert on staff to help guide our patients as they look to alleviate their pain during treatment,” said Dr. Letha Mills, Head of MAHHC’s Oncology Department. “His individualized approach allows each patient to feel heard while receiving the best care.”
Acute Rehabilitation team Physiatrist Dr. Annice Mason adds that Dr. Rauert’s approach to Pain Management complements her rehabilitation treatment plans for patients.
“I find that treatment is greatly enhanced for patients when I’m able to combine Dr. Rauert’s expertise with our holistic methods to managing pain.” Dr. Mason says. “I congratulate him on earning his board certification, and I’m excited that he’s part of our team.”
Dr. Rauert is accepting new patients for Pain Management care. He is a 2001 graduate of the Loyola Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago, IL.
