Cancer Patient Support Foundation names two new board members

At the recent Board Meeting of the Cancer Patient Support Foundation (CPS), two new Board Members were elected; local Williston business owner Elizabeth Warren of Essex Junction, and Susan Shouldice of Burlington.

Elizabeth Warren and her husband Todd own and operate Otter Creek Awnings/Vermont Custom Closets in Williston and have been active in local cancer support nonprofits and events for many years. The company is the title sponsor for The Rally Against Cancer campaign for UVM, an effort to help with Cancer awareness in partnership with UVM sports teams. In that role, Elizabeth and Todd attend the “Pink Games” and set up a table with cancer information. Their companies also sponsored the Cattle Barron’s Ball in 2014, a fundraiser for Hope Lodge. Elizabeth has been involved with Cocktails Curing Cancer and has been in leadership positions for other nonprofits over the last 10 years, chairing her local PTO in Essex with 100 members and 20 plus committees.

Warren was a member of the Essex school board for three years and chaired the Christian Education Committee at her church where she was in leadership roles for many years. In 2013, Elizabeth and Todd’s company won the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce Creative Edge award.

Also elected to the CPS board of directors was Susan Shouldice of Burlington who moved to Chittenden County from Rutland when her husband Bill was named President and CEO of Vermont Teddy Bear. An active community member in Rutland for 12 years while her husband was the CEO of the Vermont Country Store, Shouldice also lived and was active in Montpelier while her husband was the Secretary of Commerce for the State of Vermont. As a former board member of the Rutland Area VNA, she brings a wealth of knowledge of health care delivery and supportive services, as well as a familiarity with that part of the state to help broaden the CPS mission to serve the entire State of Vermont. She was also on the board of directors for the Paramount Theater in Rutland and helped make their annual fundraiser, “The Festival of Trees” a huge success.

The Cancer Patient Support Foundation is an independent charitable nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting comprehensive psychosocial services to cancer patients and their families throughout Vermont and upstate New York with a vision that all who face cancer can do so with dignity, confidence and serenity. Contributions to CPS make possible a range of supportive services, including psychological and nutritional counseling, and educational programs. CPS also provides emergency funding for patients who find themselves in financial hardship due to their illness.
