Henry R (Hank) Dimuzio, Jr, MD named 2015 Rutland Regional Medical Center Physician of the Year

Rutland Regional Medical Center has announced that Henry R. (Hank) Dimuzio, Jr., MD has been named Rutland Regional Medical Center’s 2015 Physician of the Year. The annual announcement is one of the community’s most prestigious honors bestowed upon a physician because of its acknowledgment from colleagues and medical peers.

Dr. Dimuzio, an Emergency Department physician for more than 31 years, was selected as the medical staff member who best personifies the hospital’s core values and patient-centered model of care.

“It is an honor to recognize Dr. Dimuzio,” says Tom Huebner, CEO, Rutland Regional Medical Center. “For many years, Dr Dimuzio has demonstrated his commitment to providing the highest level of care to patients and families despite the sheer volume of patients seen in the Emergency Department. We are fortunate to have physicians of his caliber at Rutland Regional and are proud to recognize such an outstanding physician.”

More than 33,000 patients of all ages are seen annually in Rutland Regional’s Emergency Department.

In the dozens of nominations submitted by his peers, Dr. Dimuzio’s patients and colleagues praised his gentleness and compassion during very difficult situations. “Dr. Dimuzio is the type of physician that all good doctors hope to become,” noted one colleague. “He consistently shows up for each shift with energy, good humor and a determination to make a positive difference to the staff and his patients.”

Dr. Dimuzio joined Rutland Regional Medical in 1984 and served as medical director from 1989-1993. Dr. Dimuzio received his medical degree at the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, Mexico and completed his residency State University of New York at Buffalo.
